Triberg located directly on the Black Forest railway line is famous for being the cuckoo clock capital of the world, you'll hear many call this area of the Black Forest the German Clock Route.

Keeping Time

  • Triberg Im Schwarzwald is a small quiet German town located in Baden-Württemberg, in the heart of the Black Forest.
  • Not only famous for being cuckoo clock capital of the world Triberg is also famous for Germany's highest waterfalls, with an overall drop of 163 metres over 7 cascades.
  • The falls are illuminated during the night and offer a fascinating sight.
  • Four of the largest cuckoo clocks in the world are located in the Black Forest of Germany; in Höllsteig, Niederwasser, Schonach and Schonachbach, near Triberg.
  • The world's biggest cuckoo clock in Triberg, near Schönberg, made it into the Guinness Book of Records at more than 15m high.
  • Through approximately 300km of beautiful scenery, the ‘German Clock Route’ will give you a brief history of time and clock making tradition. Clock factories, clock making workshops and clock-face painting studios all along the route offer visitors an informative insight into a clockmakers work.
  • The town of Furtwangen has now been the center of the Black Forest Clock area for a long time. Today its clock museum has gained a world-wide reputation with a collection consisting of more than 4000 clocks.
