Veere is a beautiful city with the combination of a visibly great past, modern hospitality and the proximity of the ever-fascinating sea. It really is one of the most surprising locations.

• Veere is a municipality and a city in the south-western Netherlands. The name means "ferry" after Wolfert VI Van Borsele established one here in 1281.
• During its boom time in the 16th and 17th centuries, Veere served as the continental trading port for one of Scotland’s main exports, wool.
• In 1561 the so called ‘Scottish houses’ of the Scottish trade colony with grand renaissance gables were built at the port and you can still see plenty of Scottish architecture and Scottish Flags overlooking the port today.
• The continental barricade of Napoleon interrupted the English trade and the port of Veere was then used as a fisher port.
• The picturesque little town boasts a lot of historical buildings and beautiful cobble stoned streets and attracts a lot of day-trippers.
