Alpensia Resort

Alpensia Resort

Located in Pyeongchang-gun in the Gangwon-do Province, about 3 hours from the airport and 2 and a half hours from the capital of the capital Seoul, you’ll find the place the 2018 winter games will be held. This stunning landscape has been a destination for Korean ski fans for many years and it’s about to be recognised as a world ski destination. One of those places you just have to visit.

An absolute mecca for Koreans, this place is getting more and more recognition from international visitors too. Its no wonder even a lot of Australians come here. The snow is just incredible.

When you think about the resort, Alpensia is located in 400,000 hectares of pristine environment but it’s the ski runs that have people coming here every winter. It is fantastic. Like any resort, it has all the mod cons with budget through to luxury accommodation and is surrounded by restaurants serving both traditional Korean and western cuisine.

A beautiful new concert hall has been built on the resort for the 2018 Cultural Olympiad and there is also the extremely popular all year round Water Park available to guests. With stunning attractions nearby, there’s also a sheep ranch, literature museum, a stunning botanical garden and some very good retail therapy.

Just next-door is the ski jumping station which hosts 6 slopes for skiing and snowboarding, with runs up to 1.6 kilometres long. This resort is simply amazing and you just have to check out the skiers in action.
