Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp

Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp

Visit the world’s oldest rainforest  - older than the Amazon. The team stay in the Elephant Hills floating luxury camp situated on one of Thailand’s most spectacular lakes the CheowLan Lake. This fantastic tourist attraction was created back in 1982 when the area flooded and The CheowLan Lake is now Thailand’s largest freshwater lake at 185 kilometres.

The team travel to camp by traditional Thai Longtail Boat and cruise the waters of the lake, taking in the fascinating history of this rainforest. 300 million years ago the whole area was an underwater coral sea and the limestone you can see today makes a picturesque backdrop to the lush rainforest, which covers 440 square kilometres.

The untouched rainforest is filled with a diverse range of trees and extraordinary wildlife and has numerous side channels waiting to be explored. Watch out for Fishing Eagles jumping out of the water and the beautiful Dusky Langur monkey surrounding the camp. The Hornbill birds are relics of a time when the Himalayas didn’t even exist, over 50 million years ago. This amazing bird survived the ice age and stands as a reminder of the importance of the preservation of this special part of the world.

Along the way you will find an extraordinary and exclusive rainforest camp Elephant Hills. Stay in complete luxury as you relax in your personal tent, floating over the cool, emerald waters. Do something different everyday as you watch the sunset over the jungle, take a swim in the refreshing water, kayak through the channels of the lake in search of wildlife and trek through the rainforest. The tents are also self sustainable and eco-friendly. With no mobile phone signal and no Internet, be at one with mother nature at this special camp.
