Home to Las Vegas, incredible desert landscapes and Area 51, Nevada is a state that is well worth a visit.

  • One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Nevada is Las Vegas, with over 350,000 Australians visiting the city just last year.
  • However, Nevada is so much more than Vegas, being an enormous state with so much to see and do, and one of the best ways to explore the area is by going on a road trip.
  • Nevada is known for its reported alien sightings, with rumours floating around that aliens have been captured here. The state is the home of Area 51, a secret military facility that deals with all of the weird alien activity.
  • The Alien Research Centre was built in 2000. Originally just a small shack, though a huge bunker was built in 2002. It caters to the thousands of visitors who come to the area seeking contact with extra-terrestrial visitors, as well as those who just want an alien balloon.
  • Linda Looney started working at the Centre in 2016 and has heard many stories about alien sightings. Many believe the area has so much alien activity due to the Roswell Crash, where 4 aliens were supposedly taken to Area 51 – the aliens are coming back to look for them.
  • Nevada State Route 375 was renamed the Extra-terrestrial Highway, coinciding with the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day. The gate to Area 51 is accessible, though don’t go any further – deadly force will be used to stop you.
